All the glitz and glam of FPW17 day one

Fashion Pakistan Week spring/summer’17 started off with fresh positive vibes as we witnessed all the amazing celebrities and stars and of course our favourite designers!

The house was full of guests, which is a proof in itself that it certainly was a kickass start of fashion week and indeed one of the biggest and most happening event of the year.

The genius designers showcased their best and trendiest collection of the season and we loved each piece of their art. The line-up of day one was quite artistic and perfectly managed. Of course who could have been a better choice to open the show other than Ayesha Farooq followed by super talented Nauman Arfeen, FNKASIA, Arsalan Iqbal, Bank Alfalah rising talent and certainly the next big designers of the country; Tooba Chottani, Areej Iqbal, Fatima Abdul Rauf and Zafar Ahsan Naqvi.

Then a special segment for Urdu 1, designed by Zaheer Abbas. Humayun Alamgir took the show forward followed by Nida Azwer and Tena Durrani, who closed the show.

Here are the basic highlights of the collections showcased on fashion week:

Ayesha Farook:

La Plage is a collection for the sophisticated and cosmopolitan traveler. The clean lines, bold embellishments, and embroideries and marine life print displays a balance of luxe resort theme and a nod to European chic.

Nauman Arfeen:

Something exciting, something fresh, something patterned, something black.. Let this summer/ spring season go wild! Playing with the wild prints, the Designer Nauman Arfeen brings forward his collection titled WILD WILD VEST, representing his western fusion attires.

Avian Collection By Huma Adnan:

This collection is primarily inspired by winged animals and their ability to travel great distances in a short amount of time. The collection features cuts and patterns from all corners of the world.

Arsalan Iqbal:

This is a transitional capsule collection in continuation of our last body of work for Woolmark. Nocturnal builds upon the design story that begin with ‘Tiloor’ last year.

Bank Alfalah Rising Talent:

Tooba Chhotani:

“My first collection speaks volumes about my artistic creativity. The silhouettes are all made of canvas and portray floriography – the language of flowers – commonly used in the Victorian era to express feelings and convey messages.”

Areej Iqbal:

“The opportunity by Bank Alfalah to showcase my work is out of this world. This is something I always dreamed of and just the recognition would mean the world to any design student.”

Fatima Abdul Rauf:

The theme of my thesis that is being showcased here revolves around the concept of connectivity and simplicity. I hope you like my collection and encourage me to pursue my dreams and passion for this field with your positive feedback.

Zafar Ahsan Naqvi:

The following collection is based on development of a concept that is derived from the map of Karachi. The shapes and lines coming from the map and and the areas were translated into cuts and silhouettes and different techniques.

Humayun Alamgir:

This collection portrays the story of a royally spoilt brat who knows no mercy when it comes to style. We promise you would want to have some #Ayaash for yourself too & don’t worry we won’t judge you.

Nida Azwer:

The Susleme – Luxury Pret Collection:

The standalone Susleme Luxury Pret Collection embraces the vibrant colours drawn from Uzbek textiles and the collection is set to be presented across a range of luxurious fabrics.

Tena Durrani:

Collection Name: The Debut:

The debut is our take of a surreal garden of Eden, portraying the female form in the epitome of romanticism. Our love for defined artworks translated with signature embellishments and a subtle balance of print, draping and texture allows for the Tena Durrani ethos to resonate throughout the entire collection.

Apart from spotting some mesmerizing collections, we had quite an eventful day as Fashion Pakistan has turned 10 years old now and we just can’t wait to see the magic on finale by the country’s most talented and veteran designers.
