Pakistani media has come a long way; we have seen a massive change in this industry within a decade; be it print, electronic or even social media.
There are many publication houses and channels which are focusing on their websites; in order to cope up with the current market. Then there are freelance bloggers as well. For rapid updates these bloggers post pictures and blogs, review of the events, and products. There are many famous bloggers who have made their mark and recognition in the industry by their hard work and time, but there are still many who need time and experience to grow and give proper reporting of certain public events.
Recently, we came across the HUM Style Awards controversy, which has enraged the bloggers. According to a leading website the bloggers are not being invited in the awards, which are slated to happen today. After the news break-out, bloggers who were not invited started campaigning against the awards and tried to defame the PR Company. But, there are certain renowned bloggers who have been invited for the coverage.
It is a commonly known fact that there are bloggers who are credible and are trusted with the image of a certain company, but there are many who cannot be relied upon when it comes to detailed coverage of events as big as HUM Style Awards. A PR company cannot be completely blamed for not inviting bloggers or any other media person to cover and review the event. There are certain risks which come along when an event is organized. So it is wise to invite only those who are credible and have a trusted name, when there are restrictions with a limited amount of seats. Therefore, campaigning and mud-slinging against the company or the organizers won’t be a fair choice.
