Winter Hair Care!

  • Wear a Hat:

The harsh winter air, wind, snow and rain damage our hair immensely in the colder months of the year. To protect your hair from these natural elements’ wrath, one must wear a hat! This is no time to by worrying about hat-hair but Wool, cotton, and other fabrics may cause some breakage, so be sure to line your hat with silk or satin to prevent breakage. Use a dry oil spray to avoid static electricity and dryness. Dry oils are light and contain natural oils that nourish hair and restore its shine.

  • Buy a humidifier:

Indoor heating can cause the air in your home to become immensely dry, causing you hair to lose all its moisture. Using a humidifier helps rehydrate the air to keep your hair looking amazing!

  • Get regular trims:

Trimming your hair every four to eight weeks is a good way to maintain hair health and keep your locks looking fresh. Snip a half inch off the ends to reduce the chances of dry and split ends.

  • Lower water temperature while showering:

Even though a sweltering shower might be just what you need when the temperature is below freezing, hot water can snip all the moisture from your hair making it brittle and more susceptible to breakage. Wash your hair with lukewarm water and follow with a cool water rinse instead.

  • Avoid frequent hair washes:

If you wash your hair every day, it’s time for modification. Washing your hair too frequently will strip it of natural oils that keep hair nourished and protected. This is especially harmful in the winter when those oils are a necessity. Try spacing out your washes as much as possible. If you normally wash your hair daily, then switch to an alternate day routine. If you find your hair still dry, try every three days. Another way to space out your washes is to use dry shampoo. Dry shampoo unlocks up the hair shaft and brings life to your hairdo. It will also make your hair smell and look fresh.
