According to box office records, “The Lego Batman Movie” outran “Fifty Shades Darker” for a second weekend at the North American box offices.
The Warner Bros spin-off of “The Lego Movie” ended on top of the charts with a projected revenue of $43 million over the long President’s Day weekend, estimating to a two-week total of $107.5 million, predicted the box office tracker Exhibitor Relations.
The 3D, computerized, action and comedy film features little Batman as he tries to save Gotham City from being attacked and taken over by the Joker.
Universal’s second part of the erotic movie, “Fifty Shades”, based on the novels of E.L. James came close to a small distance with $24 million for a total of $92.5 million since the week.
“The Great Wall” debuted followed the two movies, coming at number 3 with a short scale of only $21 million. Universal’s pounding action thriller starring Matt Damon, filmed with a $150 million budget and invested on being the first ever English-language production shot entirely in China, which follows European mercenaries searching for black powder who get busy protecting the Great Wall of China against a group of monsters.
Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 2” went down one spot to 4th place while its second weekend with $19.5 million in revenue for a two-week total of $61.7 million.
