Is award-winning ‘Lipstick under my Burkha’ too lady oriented?

Alankrita Shrivastava’s new movie Lipstick Under my Burqa has been denied certification by the Central Board of Film Certification because the movie is “lady oriented”.

Is award-winning 'Lipstick under my Burkha' too lady oriented?

The letter issued by the CBFC says that the movie is “lady oriented, their fantasy above life”, had “containious sex scenes” and a “bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society”.

In-spite of dealing with issues of gravitas, the film never compromises on its cinematic excellence and I believe it is a great example of the kind of insight filmmakers should have when making movies about women.
