Saakin is an Islamabad based band that debuted a song last year; ‘Saq e Bawafa’. Saakin consists of Usman Shakeel, Parham Faraid, Ibrahim Akram and Ali Hamdani.Saakin who remixed a poem by Sufi Persian poet Shams Tabrizi and turned it into a song with stunning choice of musical instruments that simply took the song to another level.
Saakin’s latest sufi epic Saqi-e-Bawafa is a rendition of a poem by Shams Tabraizi a Persian sufi who is credited as being one of the spiritual instructors to Rumi himself. Last year, after the release of Saq e Bawafa, Saakin band song was nominated for Lux Style Award and this year on 7th July 2019 Saakin successfully won Lux Style Award as the Best Emerging Talent.
Pakistani stars gathered together in a gorgeous event of Lux Style Awards 2019 held in Karachi. Furthermore, the Pakistan Embassy in Tehran invited the Saakin Sufi Rock Band to perform in Tehran. Saakin is now growing into an international band and is keen to launch new music projects.
