A physician who sent a friend request to Sharmeen Obaid’s sister has been fired from his job. The doctor got fired days after Mahjabeen Obaid, sister of Pakistan’s first Academy Award winner, went to Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), Karachi for her treatment. After a while, she received a friend request from the same doctor.
Sharmeen, on the other hand took the issue to social media and reported this case of “harassment” last week.

And after all this fuss, we came to know that the doctor who was a father of four has been kicked out from the hospital. It is very much clear that trying to connect with someone on social media doesn’t come under the charges of harassment, it is still unethical for a medical expert going through the medical records of his patient and approach her outside.
Majority of the people criticized Sharmeen Obaid for highlighting an issue which could have been resolved in some other manner. This was not an issue that should have been highlighted in a way that has taken a doctor’s career.
