At 18, there was a man who’d called on my live show on MTV and said ‘your voice isn’t nice’. I had cried that night. For all the other messages of encouragement/love i had received, this ‘one’ remark somehow had the ability to drain me, washing away all the endless adoration shown to me otherwise. Of course I felt insecure about myself, my talent and even my future as an artist on tv. A change in perception may help I thought and so I decided to thank God instead.. thank Him for my voice, the fans, my fat legs, my success and my show on tv. I thanked him for everything. All of it was more than any 18 year old could’ve ever asked for. Fast forward to the present, this very voice has landed me a new job at a Radio Station and even though I’m still a little apprehensive about being on air…as I embark on this new journey in my life, I can’t help but be grateful for the endless opportunities where I’ve gotten to live my dream of communicating with people, laughing, crying and developing a strong bond with them over the years. The bond that went beyond me looking perfect, my voice or anything else. ‘They have loved me for me all along’ I keep reminding myself as it helps keep me going. And the love I feel in return for everyone is tenfold. After 17 years of ‘chatting’ with these people through tv screens, live on Instagram, shows etc, they’ve become my extended family. I’ve accepted their flaws, love and hate just as they’ve accepted my occasional stupidities and quirkiness as their own! Win win. I am delighted I can take this relationship yet another step forward with my breakfast show that begins on @Cityfm89 next week. They’re a bunch of good hearted peeps and because of them we’ll now get to hangout regularly, discussing what’s going on in our hearts and heads. I want to help you swift through your day and I want you to help me get through mine. I will be playing your songs, reading out your messages and interviewing your favourite celebs! There’s so much to say, so much that should be heard! Feel free to gimme advice in the comments section! Together, I hope this ride will be one to remember! Duaon main yaad rakhain please!! ???? Mon- Fri 7-10 am. ???????? Zindabad

Anoushey started off her post with her first negative comment received, talking about the importance of believing in yourself and not giving up.

“At 18, there was a man who’d called on my live show on MTV and said ‘your voice isn’t nice’. I had cried that night. For all the other messages of encouragement/love i had received, this ‘one’ remark somehow had the ability to drain me, washing away all the endless adoration shown to me otherwise.”

She went on to say, “Fast forward to the present, this very voice has landed me a new job at a radio station. I can’t help but be grateful for the endless opportunities where I’ve gotten to live my dream of communicating with people, laughing, crying and developing a strong bond with them over the years. The bond that went beyond me looking perfect, my voice or anything else. They have loved me for me all along’ I keep reminding myself as it helps keep me going”, says Anoushey.

From then to now, Anoushey’s continues with unwavering determination. This is exactly what makes Anoushey most suitable for this job; after all, everybody could do with a bit of positive vibes early morning!

As Anoushey herself put it: “I want to help you swift through your day and want you to help you swift through mine”.

We’re always happy to see female voices on the forefront and this is no different.

The Breakfast Show will start airing every Monday to Friday, 7-10 am, from August 5.
