Padmavati actress Deepika Padukone has been threatened yet again by the Rajput Karni Sena, who this time around, have threatened to chop off the actress’ nose.
Padukone, one of Bollywood’s leading actresses today, has portrayed Queen Padmavati in her latest flick Padmavati. The film has had a rough time at the hands of Indian extremists ever since its inception, with one incident involving director Sanjay Leela Bhansali–who was assaulted by extremists.
Now the Rajput Karni Sena have threatened to maim the Bollywood actress.
“The country is not regressing, you are making it so. With folded hands, I beg Deepika not to insult women… Deepika is dancing in the film. Yes, dance, but why are you dancing with less clothing? How are you trying to portray Indian women,” said Lokendra Singh Kalvi, convener of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena.
Mahipal Singh Makrana, president of Rajasthan unit of the outfit, said that the group would not hesitate to chop off Deepika’s nose like Shurpanakha.
Deepika had recently faced a storm of criticism after she had remarked that the controversy surrounding her was ‘appalling’ and that India has as a nation ‘digressed’.
Will any harm come to the Indian actress or is this just another threat that Bollywood superstars have to endure until the film’s release? Only time will tell.
