Deepika Padukone wants to follow this Bollywood actress’ footsteps and no it’s not Priyanka Chopra

Deepika Padukone seems to have a special role in mind and she knows just the right person who can make it happen! Well, can you make any guesses?

Being such a versatile beauty, the actress has done quite a lot of roles. However, there is one such role that she wants to try out for which she has drawn inspiration from a Bollywood actress. With the way her Hollywood career took off, everybody has only been drawing comparisons with Priyanka Chopra.

Let’s rest that now because DP has found her inspiration in Swara Bhaskar! Yes, you heard that right. The actress wishes to follow Nil Battey Sannata actress Swara Bhaskar’s footsteps and do a role more solo heroine-centric! We all remember how despite a small budget, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s debut project touched hearts of many because of it’s simple plot and brilliant performance. DP’s got eyes on a role like that and she has approached just the man who can make it happen, Aanand L Rai.

With the upcoming projects under L Rai’s production banner, you can tell that all his tales are different and have that necessary human interest element. Deepika wants to cash in on this and do a film with the celebrated filmmaker. According to a report on Mumbai Mirror, the actress has been in talks with the Tanu Weds Manu director about the same. Of course, he had offered her his upcoming film with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. However, she denied the role as she wants a solo heroine project with that raw rural touch. Considering how the filmmaker is an expert when it comes to capturing the essence of small town fervour, this seems doable.

All we have to now is wait for the filmmaker to come up with a script that fancies DP’s wish! Till then, we’ve got Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati and Vishal Bharadwaaj’s Sapna Didi to be excited about.

In these two films as well, the actress will be playing the lead role as the stories revolve around her character. So, gone are the days when actresses were mere side kicks and eye candies for actors.
