The four episode play stars Amar Khan as a young woman insecure about her appearance and how she overcomes that while falling for Rayan, played by Muneeb Butt.

Khan let us know what to expect from the episodes ahead.

“I play Zeena who’s a very sweet and simple girl and is also very competent. She’s the studious type and works hard, excelling at her job. But she is mocked by people for her appearance and looking geeky. All the judging has given her an inferiority complex.”

She went on to say, “The story revolves around how Muneeb’s character Rayan falls for her despite how others perceive her. He sees how genuine she is. You know the saying, surat pe nahi, seerat pe jana chahiye. Looks shouldn’t matter, it’s who you are inside that counts and that’s an important message in this series.”

Director, Angeline Malick shared, “In Roop, Amar plays a young woman who puts herself down because of her looks and we show that it stems from her mother, who compares Zeena to her prettier sister and ends up being insulting to Zeena. We want to show how parents shouldn’t do this because it has such a bad impact on a child.”

Amar adds, “These days in our society, young women are taught to be presentable rather than have their own personalities.”

“I was shooting the last spell of Ghughi and the pictures of the serial were already out when Saife had the producers call me. I got to know it was a very ambitious and experimental project, so I went in and met with the director who told me that he saw a dayan in me,” Amar said, followed by genuine chuckles. “He told me he saw something very satanic in my eyes and that’s how the journey started.”

“I was very concerned about my look because it could either be an image-maker or breaker. But Bellapur Ki Dayan isn’t the typical dayan, with all those disgusting elements that we get to see in Asian horror flicks,” Amar shared.

“It’s been given very realistic treatment,” she assured, adding, “My director’s very much hanging me with cables in the air and he’s making me do all these acrobats, so it’s no longer a bedroom drama where I shed a tear or two, or even play a glamorous nagin; nothing of such sort.”

Besides these two projects Amar made her acting debut alongside Ahsan Khan in the internationally acclaimed telefilm, ‘Chashm e Num’ which follows the story of two blind lovers.

Ahsan Khan is currently working on his upcoming project aiming to challenge the society’s concept about the visually impaired individuals, titled as Chasm e Num.

The film is slated to release on the World Disability Day which is celebrated on 3^rd December. It is a short romantic film based on the story of two-visually impaired characters who fall in love with each other.

Chashm-e-Nam will be a part of different film festivals and it will also air on TV. The title song, Naina, of the movie has been sung by Amanat Ali. The film has stars Ahsan Khan, along with Jasim Khan and Amar Khan.
