We don’t mind, and neither does US President Donald Trump. Because as you may remember, he was in it.

In the sequel to the 1990 hit, Trump appears briefly in the movie to give directions to Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, and at the time, owned the Manhattan hotel where the film was shot.

Trump, who was taking questions while on a customary Christmas video call to overseas American troops, was asked by a sergeant whether Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, in which Trump has a cameo, is his favourite Christmas movie.

“‘Well, I’m in Home Alone 2,” he said to the troops. “A lot of people mention it every year, especially around Christmas. They say – especially young kids — they say, ‘I just saw you on the movie.’ They don’t see me on television as they do in the movie. But it’s been a good movie and I was a little bit younger, to put it mildly. And it was an honour to do it.”

“And it turned out to be a very big hit, obviously. It’s a big Christmas hit — one of the biggest. So it’s an honour to be involved in something like that, you always like to see success.”

Home Alone 2 raked in $365 million worldwide in 1992.

It’s confirmed that Disney+ has finally found its lead for the upcoming Home Alone reboot on the streaming platform! According to reports, Jojo Rabbit breakout star Archie Yates will be starring in the reboot of the classic film.

Variety also reports that the young actor will “not be playing the iconic Kevin McCallister, but a new character in a similar premise to the original franchise.”

As fans may recall, Macaulay Culkin played the role of McCallister in the original 1990 film.

Further, the publication reports that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actress Ellie Kemperand comedian Rob Delaney will also star alongside Yates. Although initially they were thought to play Yates’ parents in the Disney+ reboot, it looks like they might be playing different roles in the film.

Back in August, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Disney+ would be rebooting the 1990 film for the streaming service, per NBC News. The announcement was met with mixed feelings on social media but many others are ready for the nostalgia and to relive Home Alone even if in a different light.

Disney+’s Home Alone reboot will be directed by Dan Mazer and the script will be written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. Mazer has previously directed Dirty Grandpa, Bridget Jones’s Baby and Borat. 

Aside from this Home Alone reboot, Disney+ streamers can also anticipate reboots from other classics like Night at the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper by the Dozen.

And of course, the highly anticipated Lizzie McGuire reboot.

According to a news report in CNN, Disney CEO Bob Iger said the company would be “reimagining” the 1990s Christmas classic film for its long-awaited streaming service, Disney+, along with Night at the Museum, Cheaper by the Dozen and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

The actor of Home Alone was born in 1946 in Washington DC. He started his career in the late 1970s. He recently played a character named Andrew in Living Among Us, a movie about vampire.  Whereas, Home Alone is the only movie in which he has achieved massive success in a short span of time. Heard was best known for the character as McCallister, father of Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin in the Home Alone series.

While filming Home Alone, actor shared his experience and told how funny a parent could be. He stated:

“We were the only two people in the movie who didn’t know how funny the movie was, because we were the parents that had left our child, and she had to run around hysterically, having abandoned a seven-year-old or whatever he was.”

The actor expressed unease with how the role in the smash hit defined his career, and even considered passing on the movie’s sequel. More than once, he said he wanted to “put to rest the Home Alonedad image.”
