Robert Pattinson, who is set to portray the Caped Crusader, opened up about whether The Batman has a connection with Joker.

Robert Pattinson said “It’s kind of a different world.” It was recently announced that the Clown Prince of Crime, played by Joaquin Phoenix will not feature in the new film.

In an interview The New York Times, the actor said Batman avoids the good guy zone.

“Batman’s not a hero, though. He’s a complicated character. I don’t think I could ever play a real hero. There’s always got to be something a little bit wrong. I think it’s because one of my eyes is smaller than the other one…,” the actor said.

Robert Pattinson, who will be playing the character in the Matt Reeves directorial, added “It’s a dope character. His morality is a little bit off.”

On why actors take up a good guy role, he said he thinks it is because they are “ashamed” of their real life.

“It’s always more fun if you’re shocking the people in the room. If you end up being boring, that’s the lowest of the low,” Robert Pattinson said.

Recently, it was announced that Zoe Kravitz will be taking on the role of Cat woman in the upcoming film.

It will begin production late this year or early 2020 and is likely to hit theatres in summer 2021.

Joker crosses $1 Billion becomes highest grossing R-rated movie. Joker’s tremendous box office success is more incredible than people thought. This fall has featured more than its fair share of commercial bombs but Joker was the one true breakaway hit of the season.

Opening in early October, the film shattered multiple records in its first weekend and continued to hold strong through the remainder of the month. Bolstered by Oscar buzz for Joaquin Phoenix, the polarizing word-of-mouth, and the fact it’s based on one of the most iconic characters in pop culture, Joker was a must-see that continuously drew in large crowds.

Todd Philip’s take of The Joker’s origins may have been met with mixed reviews but that didn’t stop it from ruling the box office.

Deadline reports that film Joker has finally crossed the $1 billion mark, becoming the 44th film to do so. Passing ahead of films like Deadpool 2 and Matrix Reloaded, it has also become the highest grossing R-rated film.

The movie, which shows a non-canon tale about the clown prince of crime, made headlines when it bagged $93.5 million in the first three days since it’s opening.

Right now Joker sits just behind The Dark Knight on the all-time box office earners.

It’s been four weeks since Todd Phillips’ Joker opened in theaters, but if you thought the Warner Bros. film would be slowing down at this point, you’d be wrong. The film continues to be a strong performer and has officially crossed the $800 million mark at the global box office and become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

The two villains had been in a close race for first place, but Sunday estimates show Joker will walk away victorious with $18.9 million in ticket sales. Joker‘s current domestic haul to $277.58 million, keeping the film on track towards what many hope will ultimately be a $1 billion worldwide box office run.

What is particularly of interest with this Joker/Maleficent box office race is the initial expectations for both films. Joker had a modest, $60 million budget and its box office performance has been much better than initial expectation. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, on the other hand, hasn’t quite been performing as expected. The film had been eyeing a $50 million opening weekend at the domestic box office, but ultimately only brought in $36 million — a number far shy of the $69 million that the first film brought in during its opening weekend.

Currently, Joker is ranked #10 for the year on Box office Mojo’s worldwide list and #7 on the domestic list. Domestically, it’s only topped by Aladdin, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4, The Lion King, and Avengers: Endgame. All of those movies have earned over $1 billion at the box office, so Joker still has a way to go before it beats any of them.

Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker has been the talk of the town for quite some time. The movie even received an eight-minute standing ovation at its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. However, soon after its release on August 31, the film has been showered with mixed responses: from praises and admiration posts to disapproval.

Here are excerpts of the reviews from some popular publications — who have watched and reviewed it:

Empire: A character and a movie that’s liberated, entirely. Free to be whatever and whomever it choose

Rating: 5/5

“As Arthur/Joker, Joaquin Phoenix is astonishing. Phillips has said he had a picture of the actor above his screen when writing the script and it’s a belief that has paid off. Phoenix inhabits Arthur: having lost weight for the role, he looks thin, frail, hungry. Shadows carve out his exposed bones. His physicality is precise — the way he moves, shuffles, runs, sits, smokes, shrinks. His usual intensity is on full display and it’s captivating, even overwhelming in moments. Comparing him to Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson feels like a nonsense: this is a Joker we’ve never seen — in many respects it isn’t the Joker, it’s Arthur.”

The Washington Post: Joaquin Phoenix is a vivid, operatic Joker, but the movie is way too full of itself

Rating: 2/5

“As an origin story, Joker is vivid and convincing (and offers a tantalizingly fateful encounter connecting Arthur to the wider universe), but mostly it serves as a canvas for Phoenix, who goes to strenuous lengths to deliver a performance of operatic bombast. Alarmingly emaciated, affecting a maniacal laugh that Arthur barks out when he’s scared or angry or confused, he delivers a self-consciously larger-than-life performance in a role that simply doesn’t warrant the gravitas afforded to it by fans and filmmakers alike. Joker is, finally, so monotonously grandiose and full of its own pretensions that it winds up feeling puny and predictable. Like the anti-hero at its center, it’s a movie trying so hard to be capital-b Big that it can’t help looking small.”

The New York Times: ‘Joker’ Review: Are You Kidding Me?

“To be worth arguing about, a movie must first of all be interesting: it must have, if not a coherent point of view, at least a worked-out, thought-provoking set of themes, some kind of imaginative contact with the world as we know it. Joker, an empty, foggy exercise in second-hand style and second-rate philosophizing, has none of that. Besotted with the notion of its own audacity — as if willful unpleasantness were a form of artistic courage — the film turns out to be afraid of its own shadow, or at least of the faintest shadow of any actual relevance.”

The Guardian: The most disappointing film of the year

Rating: 2/5

“There is no reason why Phoenix’s elaborately backstoried Joker shouldn’t be as powerful as Heath Ledger’s mysterious, motiveless, originless Joker in The Dark Knight. But at some stage the comic-book world of supervillaindom has to be entered, and Ledger was more powerful because he wasn’t weighed down with all this realist detail and overblown ironic noir grandeur, and he wasn’t forced to carry an entire story on his own. This Joker has just one act in him: the first act. The film somehow manages to be desperately serious and very shallow.”

First Post: Joaquin Phoenix mesmerises in Todd Phillips’ entertaining but problematic treatment

Rating: 3/5

“It seems like Joker is less an individual film and more an angry response to the drubbing the character received in the previous DCEU film. It is clear that everyone involved in the film decided to make a movie so highbrow that it would create some buzz at the Oscars. To some extent, the intent works in the film’s favour, and Joker indeed is a worthwhile entertaining experience in the cinemas – if you ignore its problematic politics, juvenile messaging and cringe-inducing lack of subtlety.”

Joker is currently screening in cinemas across Pakistan.

Todd Phillip’s relentlessly intense Joker has elicited strong responses from both fans and critics. Some have lauded the film, voicing their approval of Joaquin Phoenix in the title role and praising Phillip’s sure-handed direction. Others have condemned the film, noting that its depiction of mental illness may approve dangerous in today’s sociopolitical climate. Both sides have points and both sides are going to make the movie obscene amounts of money. If anything, such controversy makes the film an even more attractive option for a planned movie night. Even Scott Snyder, one of the greatest comic writers around, recognized that playing it safe would be a bad idea.

Joker’s pre-release success begs the question: Has there been talk of a sequel? Is a sequel something the studio wants? According to Phillip’s himself, ideas have been thrown around. But that doesn’t mean such a movie is happening. Here’s what he said during an interview:

“Well, I don’t think we’re gonna make a second one. That’s just not in our plans. But for fun, have I and Joaquin bounced around ideas? We were doing it when we were shooting, because that’s what you do sometimes.”

There you have it, folks. It’s likely that the two would be working on a scene together and one would say something like, “Hey, what if he eventually..” That was probably the extent of the discussion and it should have been. Everything we have seen, heard and read about Todd Phillip’s new film indicates that this is a story told best in one chapter.

A sequel runs the risk of belaboring any point the film might attempt to make and both Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix recognize the dangers that accompany that risk. Those two are smart dudes. However, this won’t stop diehards from thinking wishfully and possibly putting forth the petitions.

The Joker is a scary guy to play and not just because he’s The Joker. Heath Ledger’s jaw-dropping performance was also incredibly intimidating and Phoenix wanted to get the character right so badly.

Joker is scheduled to hit theaters on October 4. Do you have your tickets yet? Are you excited for Joaquin Phoenix’s take on The Joker? How do you think he would react to meeting Batman? Let us know in the comments section below!

Where’s Jared Leto in the lineup for The Suicide Squad? That was a big question from DC fans after James Gunn released the official cast for his movie. Many stars from Suicide Squad are returning, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, but not Jared Leto as Joker. Some fans were disappointed to see Leto left off the list, while others were relieved.

Sure, Will Smith is also off the list, but fans already knew that would be the case — and Idris Elba’s role was even reportedly changed from replacing Smith as Deadshot to another character, to leave room for Smith to maybe return someday.

Jared Leto’s defenders were hoping his Joker would get a real chance to shine after so much was cut from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Leto has said he “would definitely play the Joker again” and there were talks at one point about his Joker getting his own standalone DCEU movie.

So now fans are reacting to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad lineup, speculating about who is playing which character, and either bashing or praising the decision to leave out Jared Leto.

James Gunn has been careful not to call The Suicide Squad a sequel to Suicide Squad, but since he’s bringing back so many actors and characters from the first movie, it’s not surprising that fans are wondering why Jared Leto’s Joker isn’t back for this “sequel”:

Several fans have made a point to say they’re glad Jared Leto’s controversial Suicide Squad Joker won’t be back, either making early comparisons to Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker or just keeping it simple like this:

Thank goodness Jared Leto’s Joker isn’t in #TheSuicideSquad. Much more interested in this project now.

Even some fans who didn’t like Jared Leto’s Joker were sorry to see him left off the list.

This is someone who has consistently shown impressive range in his acting career. The fans of course won’t care about this but they should. #TheSuicideSquad https://t.co/6szBDDvU9Y pic.twitter.com/y54V07BJj9

Some fans are still holding out hope that Jared Leto or Will Smith makes cameo appearances in The Suicide Squad. It’s not looking likely, but fans can dream. Here are a few more responses to Leto’s absence from the cast list:

“Hooray! Jared Leto’s Joker isn’t in The Suicide Squad! It might actually be a good movie this time.”

“I just saw one tweet that suggests Pete Davidson might be playing joker & now I just can’t unsee it! Please NO! I’ll be more delight if Jared Leto keeps playing that character.”

“Jared Leto did all that amazing method acting just for 15 minutes? Wish he was selected for the Joker film and reprised the role again in new #TheSuicideSquad.”

“Happy yet very interesting over the cast listing but no Will Smith or Jared Leto like what???”

“FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I NEED JARED LETO TO BE THE JOKER AGAIN!!”

“Pete Davidson spoiled my mood. Will miss Jared Leto.”

“Not going to lie I’m glad Jared Leto won’t be in the new #TheSuicideSquad film. I couldn’t stand his version of The Joker at all.”

“The thing I’m most excited about is the absence of Jared Leto.”

What is Jared Leto doing? Well, we know he’s starring in Morbius with Matt Smith, Tyrese Gibson, Jared Harris, and Adria Arjona. That’s meant to be the second film in Sony’s Marvel Universe after Venom. But maybe he’s also doing … this?

For those wondering why Jared Leto’s Joker isn’t in #TheSuicideSquad…it’s because he is busy leading a Cult by the looks of it. pic.twitter.com/MKycxmKklV

Many fans revived a tweet from James Gunn about Jared Leto, leading some to wonder if there were personal decisions behind the lack of casting, beyond just not having a role for his Joker in this film. Maybe Gunn or Leto will talk more about the casting decision someday, but for now fans are left to either complain or cheer about his absence.

James Gunn’s official cast list for The Suicide Squad shut down some rumors out there but added a lot of questions. There’s plenty of time for answers to follow, since the movie is just now getting ready to start filming for its scheduled release in August 2021.

Jury president Lucretia Martel announced the winners of the prestigious award during a ceremony on the Lido. The Golden Lion previously put a spotlight on films that went on to be major awards season players, such as Roma and the film academy’s 2018 best picture winner, The Shape of Water.

“I want to thank Warner Bros. and DC for stepping out of their comfort zone and taking such a bold swing on me and this movie,” Phillips said with star Joaquin Phoenix by his side on stage.

Phoenix did not win the best actor prize — it went to Italian actor Luca Marinelli for the Jack London adaptation Martin Eden — but the director of Joker dedicated much of his speech to the talents of his leading man.

In the film, he transforms from struggling stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck into Batman’s classic nemesis.

“Thank you for trusting me with your insane talents,” Phillips said to Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is nearing its release and we just got a new trailer to get hyped up about it. As if we weren’t already though.

The latest trailer shows that Joker isn’t following any comic book plot for this origin story although some might see a hint of The Killing Joke with Phoenix’s struggle as a stand up comedian.

Phoenix plays Arthur Miller, the average man who descends into madness after the world knocked him down one too many times.

The trailer resembles one of Joker’s most popular quotes: “So when you find yourself locked onto an unpleasant train of thought, heading for the places in your past where the screaming is unbearable, remember there’s always madness. Madness is the emergency exit… you can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened. You can lock them away, forever.”

We still don’t get a glimpse of Batman in the trailer, who in the books has always felt responsible for creating the clown prince of crime. Perhaps the movie will have that cameo which will give us more.

One thing’s for sure; Joaquin Phoenix has gotten the laugh down to the tee and is second only to Mark Hamill. We see a few awards coming his way.

Joker releases October 4.

The character ‘Joker’ is one of the top favorite villains in the world. The personality of this character is what makes it so versatile. People adore him for all the right reasons; joker is not just crazy insane but intelligent at the same time. Considering the hero is as great as the villain, no one likes an easy fight.

Heath Ledger wanted to be a BATMAN and not a ‘joker’

When the auditions were opened for the ‘the dark knight,’ Heath originally wanted to play the role of Batman. But he ended up getting the role of ‘joker.’ And the person who decided that Heath would be the best person to play this role stands corrected, as he ended up winning an Oscar for it. So apparently it was good decision.

First actor to win an Oscar for playing a villain

Everyone knows that if an actor wants to win an Oscar, you do not end up doing a ‘superhero’ movie. Oscars usually look for categories like art films, or movies that have a strong message to give. When Heath won an Oscar for this role, it took everyone by surprise as it was so unexpected. He was not just the first one in history to win one in a category like this but also the first one to win after he has passed away.

Clockwork Orange

Heath took his inspiration for this character from ‘Clockwork Orange.’ This movie has come out in the 1970’s and was the craziest movies of its time. The strange mannerisms of the character had to be acted with authenticity. Very close to how an insane person would act. Heath went an extra mile to play this role, and no one could have nailed it better.

To get into the character he locked himself up

There is a thing called as ‘method acting.’ The actors start to think and live like the character to get all the aspects of it. The psychological aspects as well as the physical ones. This way an actor truly gets into the shoes of the role he is playing. He isolated himself and imagined what it would be like if he were insane. Being alone for so long made him realize what it would be like for a character like ‘joker.’ He had to stop after a while as ‘method acting’ started to affect his relationships.

The joker was a true ‘Genius’

There has been endless debate about whether the joker was just another crazy individual or was there was a genius hiding behind that character. Heath made sure he played a role in such a manner, that it would tell the world that joker was brilliant at his madness. He did everything very strategically and not irrationally. There was a logic behind all his plans.

Joker did his own Makeup

The makeup artist assigned to the film was originally supposed to do Heath’s makeup. But considering how Heath wanted to put his element and perception of the character into his acting that he did the makeup himself. He didn’t want a touch of perfection in his makeup, and he wanted it to stay natural – Like an insane person had painted his face.
