Non-bailable arrest warrant issued for Mufti Abdul Qavi in Qandeel Baloch murder case

According to the latest judicial court hearing in Multan, Mufti Abdul Qavi has been issued non-bailable warrants in the Qandeel Baloch’s murder case.

The order was ordered by Magistrate Muhammad Pervez Khan while expressing his anger on why the case was running at a snail’s pace. The justice was told by the investigation officer that Qavi was not cooperating with them.

However, Qavi has immediately filed an application for pre-arrest bail. Currently, he has been granted bail in connection with the murder against the surety bond of Rs. 100,000/-.

Qavi, who was censured for appearing in “selfie” photographs with murdered social media celebrity Qandeel, has been investigated in connection with her killing.

He was also suspended from the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after the photographs were published and became part of the police investigation into the celebrity’s murder.

The cleric has repeatedly denied any involvement in Qandeel’s murder but had said he would present himself to police for questioning if summoned.

The internet sensation rose to fame over her Facebook videos, in which she danced, proposed to politicians and brought the cleric to shame. She was silenced in July last year by her own brother who strangled her to death over so-called honour.
