Living in the east, you really realise how important of a role weddings play in judging ones social “status”. Families spend excessive amount of money over people they have barely ever seen in their lives and will probably never see again. Now, this could for sure be a “controversial” topic for some people however, most will reflect and relate to what I have to say however, some will for definitely despise.
It is just my personal belief that is is very pointless to spend millions and millions of rupees for a couple of hours over people who most probably don’t even care about you. You could use the same amount of money for your good! that be for travelling, shopping, investing etc. anything but spending it on strangers who only showed up to your wedding for the sake of keeping their Instagrams active.
The competition of extravagant weddings have increased so much that people nowadays literally take loans just to have a grand, remarkable wedding celebration even if it comes with the cost of having them under debt for several years. They are so focused on pleasing other that they often forget to keep themselves happy.
Although many people believe that spending a lot of money for marriages would bring happiness and contentment, I personally think that such occasions are a waste of money. Saving this money for use in the future is a much better idea.
