“We’re portraying a very fraud man”, says Ranbir on Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming biopic

Ranbir Kapoor, who is playing Sanjay Dutt in the legend’s upcoming biopic says that everyone should expect an honest portrayal of the star and nothing short of it.

“With the Sanjay Dutt biopic, he’s been so honest about his life,” Ranbir said while speaking to the media. “He’s admitting to his mistakes.”

“We’re not portraying a Gandhi-like character. We’re portraying a very fraud man,” Ranbir Kapoor further said.

Sanjay Dutt had quite a life; be it a Bollywood star, a family man and a former convict who has had quite a few run ins with the law.

“He’s someone who is loved and disliked. He’s the most controversial, and to have the ability to tell about your life so honestly, and to make a movie out of it is very brave.”

Kapoor further said: “If I was in his position, I don’t think I could be this honest about my life, and make myself look like a person who is not nice. If an audience can take something from that and learn something from his life, I think it’s a very positive thing.”

The biopic, which is still not given a title, is set to release in 2018. It features Manisha Koirala as the Sanju Baba’s late mother Nargis Dutt, Paresh Rawal as his father Sunil Dutt, and Dia Mirza as Sanju’s current wife, Manayata Dutt.
