March is divorce month.
It’s not that things get out of hand on St. Patrick’s Day, sending couples straight to the courthouse. Rather, the process seems to be more deliberate, at least in one firm’s experience.
Divorce rates in many parts of the Arab world are incredibly high, despite the cultural and societal barriers that make it incredibly hard for married couples to file for divorce.
According to the latest report published in Abu Dhabi, recently has found that the most popular month for divorce in UAE is March.
A total of 1,922 divorce cases were registered in Abu Dhabi in 2016, 68.3% of which involved Emiratis, either males or females.
According to the report, 7.6 divorce cases were filed per 1,000 residents, with March holding the highest divorce rate. September saw the lowest.
The report also added that in 2016, 58.6% of Emiratis aged 15 years old and above were married, while 35.7% were single, and 5.7% were divorced.
