Karl Otto Lagerfeld, one of fashion industry’s most renowned and influential names, passed away on Tuesday. He was 85. According to reports, the German-born designer passed away after prolonged illness.
Creative director of the French luxury fashion house Chanel, Lagerfeld had taken over the prestigious fashion house in 1983, over a decade after Coco Chanel breathed her last. Lagerfeld was also the creative director of Fendi, the esteemed Italian fur and leather goods fashion house besides running his own eponymous fashion label.
Designers, fashion connoisseurs and heavyweights from the world of entertainment regarded Lagerfeld as fashion cinema’s legend and rightly so. Lagerfeld, often grabbing attention with his signature style – fingerless gloves and tinted sunglasses, had turned around the world of fashion with his creativity and ideas.
