Ali Sethi speaks up on FWICE’s warning against Indo-Pak collaboration

Ali Sethi’s live sessions on Instagram got everyone’s attention when we all went in lockdown.

The singer was one of the early artists to have a live concert and then he went viral for hosting the most interesting live session where he had veteran Farida Khanum meet India’s Rekha Bhardwaj. He participated in the session while Vishal Bhardwaj also made an appearance.

Since then many artists from both sides of the border started collaborating and for some time it was wonderful to see art transcend borders as it should.

However, after an online concert by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and some Indian performers, Indian body Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a notice warning Indian celebrities against working with Pakistani artists.

According to the singer, “Since yesterday, I’ve been receiving messages from people about the notice by an Indian organisation warning it’s artists against collaborating with Pakistanis over social media.”

“They have been criticising me, calling me names for taking the initiative when we aren’t cared about the same way.”

“Music always transcends borders, we listen to music from around the world… people listen to our music too.”

“It’s not something you can control or you should control,” added Sethi.
