After doing debut in Bollywood as singer-actor, Ali Zafar became an instant hit not just in Pakistan but as well as in India. However, due to the ban on Pakistani artists, Ali Zafar is not performing in India right now.
Earlier this year, Ali Zafar was all over the headlines after he was accused of sexual harassment by Mesha Shafi. And since then, Ali Zafar has made a conscious choice of staying away from movies that objectify women in any way. He refused to comment on the ongoing legal battle with singer Meesha Shafi as the “matter is subjudice”. But he did share his thoughts on the trend of item numbers in the entertainment industry. In telephonic interview he said:
“It depends on how it is done. Freedom of expression is something that we have. We should have the right to have that but how we use it, is very important. If it doesn’t demean a woman or objectify women and is done in an entertaining manner, I don’t see any harm in that,”
He further added:
“I would personally stay away from it.”
