Bad Teacher and Sex Tape director Jake Kasdan will roll the dice on Jumanji. Yes! Jumanji will be remade. This new version of Jumanji will be based on a script by the 1995 Robin Williams movie’s writers, further adapted by writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner.
The original Jumanji, itself based on the children’s book of the same name, was a major success at its time. In 1996 it even spawned a three-season cartoon spinoff on UPN. The film’s B-side successor Zathura, however, was a financial flop 10 years later.
Sony’s attempt to revive Jumanji is currently scheduled for Christmas Day 2016.
