The firm, however, immediately took notice of the hoax tweet and had it removed. It said that the official account was hacked but the situation has been rectified. The company added that it “apologises to Britney Spears and her fans for any confusion”.

Britney Spears did not react to the tweet directly but her manager confirmed that the singer was “fine and well”.

On account of the incident, cyber hacking group ‘Ourmine’ took responsibility of the tweet. Previously, the group hacked into Twitter accounts of Netflix US & Marvel Entertainment. The cyber hacking group has also been linked to the Twitter accounts hacking of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai.
