This popular makeup brand products contain cancer causing Asbestos

Asbestos ends up in makeup because of poor regulations involving cosmetic-grade talc, which is also known as talcum powder. Talc and asbestos are minerals that form together. That means talc mined for commercial uses can be contaminated with asbestos — a known cause of lung cancer and mesothelioma.

The FDA advised consumers not to use three Claire’s brand cosmetic products after tests found they contained asbestos. The agency issued a safety alert on Claire’s Eye Shadows, Compact Powder and Contour Pallette, after they tested positive for tremolite asbestos.

The three Claire’s products are not believed to be for sale, but consumers who have them at home should stop using them, the FDA said.
