From Ishqiya to Dirty Picture, Vidya Balan’s on-screen performances had become synonymous with ‘women-oriented’ roles.
Vidya Balan’s new movie Begum Jaan will see her playing the “most powerful” role in her career.
When asked in an interview about her take regarding feminism she said,
“Yes I am a feminist. But I am definitely not a man-hater. Because a lot of people equate feminism with that and that’s very disturbing.”
She further said,
“I am at the center of my universe and I happen to be a woman. I don’t feel any lesser than anyone else and I won’t settle for anything lesser. I won’t settle for anything but the best.”
Despite the influx of women-oriented roles in Bollywood, Begum Jaan actor refuses to take credit for it.
