Karachi to witness extreme heatstroke of up to 55°C in the next 96 hours

With the month of fast – Ramadan – has just begun, the scorching and blistering heat of the sun has risen to unbearable levels. However, with latest weather updates, the Government of Sindh has issued a ‘RED Alert’ for the next 96 hours in Karachi.
As per reports, the temperature is likely to hit record breaking degrees of up to 50.1°C – 55.5°C in the city. MET has further advised all citizens to stay indoor in the week ahead, and only go out in emergency situations.
Heatstroke has already undertaken many lives in the regional areas of the province and the authorities have asked to adhere to provided guidelines, i.e. avoid going out between 9AM – 4PM and drink up to 8 – 9 litres of water daily.
