Donald Trump apologises for re-tweeting inflammatory anti-Muslim videos

US President Donald Trump has apologised for retweeting inflammatory anti-Muslim videos by the far-right Britain First group.

Trump used an interview appearance on the UK’s ITV channel to acknowledge that Britain First, the party whose deputy leader hugely amplified by retweeting three posts; “horrible, racist people”.

He told Piers Morgan, the host of ITV’s “Good Morning Britain” and a personal friend, that he had known little about the group and was willing to apologise.

“If you are telling me they’re horrible people, horrible, racist people, I would certainly apologise if you’d like me to do that,” he told presenter Piers Morgan.

“I know nothing about them and I know nothing about them today other than I read a little bit,” he added. The US President’s apparent show of contrition stands in contrast to his reaction when Theresa May criticised his decision to retweet Britain First in November last year

According to an article previewing the interview, due to be broadcast on Sunday, he said: “I don’t want to cause any difficulty for your country.
