“Asif A. Zardari was involved in my father’s brutal murder” – Fatima Bhutto

Fatima Bhutto is the granddaughter of the former President of Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and the daughter of Murtaza Bhutto. She is thus, the blood relative of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

At the time of her father, Murtaza Ali Bhutto’s death, Fatima was merely 14 years old and was left orphan with no one to fight her father’s case of murder – according to her statements and verdicts on Murtaza Bhutto’s murder.

As she talked about her father’s murder that took place on the 20th of September, 1996, she urged that orders of assassination could not be given apart from the highest level of authorities in Pakistan. At the time of the incident, her aunt Benazir Bhutto was the Prime Minister.

Fatima Bhutto has claimed clearly Asif Ali Zardari is behind the brutal murder of her father and she has written this statement in her book, “Songs of Blood and Sword.” Along with her father, seven other politicians were shot dead that night and were taken to hospitals which were not liable to treat patients in emergency – claiming it all a pre-planned action.

None of the seven men killed that night was taken to hospital, she alleges. “They were all taken to different locations. My father was taken to a dispensary where the doctors had outpatient facility. It was a place which had a sign outside its front door saying -No Emergency. It was very clear that it was not a hospital where doctors could save anybody`s life,” she said.

Fatima Bhutto believes that Zardari is responsible for her father’s death. Further, due to lack of evidence Zardari was declared innocent as the scene of Murtaza`s assassination was wiped clean before investigators could arrive. Hence, she had clearly pronounced the killer of her father none other than Asif Ali Zardari.
