Could UrduFlix be the first Step to Making Pakistani Entertainment Scene Go Global?

Streaming services in Pakistan, much like many other things, have made quite a slow entry – but steadily, the industry is finally picking up its pace and getting on board with the global trends. So, when the news of Pakistan getting its first-ever Urdu OTT platform hit the internet, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that this one was long due. Better late than never, right?

UrduFlix – the in-house digital streaming platform is being launched in Pakistan in January 2021, and well, better late than never. Generally speaking, streaming services already offer a great number of benefits over their traditional counterparts—one of the biggest of these benefits being the luxury of viewing content on-demand. UrduFlix has taken this benefit up a notch – because it is going to provide viewers with all-Urdu content – from Urdu dramas, short films, movies, to global content dubbed in Urdu, the platform has arrived as an all-in-one streaming service for the consumers.

The dramas you want to view being there for you whenever and wherever you want it, whether on your phone, computer, television, is already a luxury in itself, but UrduFlix provides a solution for the general public that didn’t have any such platform before. You can watch an entire drama in one sitting or pause an episode halfway through without missing a beat – in your own language!

The global market for OTT platforms is slowly becoming oversaturated, with a lot of the competitors offering similar content and pricing models. UrduFlix, now making an entry in this realm, stands out for both the viewers and the content creators – which has to be why this news has created quite a buzz everywhere. It could very well be considered as Pakistan’s entry in the global entertainment scene – and consumers get to give back and aid in more content being produced and provided on one platform for everyone.

The founder Farhan Ghauhar, had also discussed this and said, “After the year we have had, looking into the future, I can easily say that streaming is our future now. Our phones and technology aren’t the only things getting ‘smart’ –our viewers are too, and we want to fulfill these viewers’ expectations. Pakistan needs to create its place in the global market like this, and with UrduFlix, we plan to do just that.”

Now, all we want to do is wait to see the launch of UrduFlix.
