Depression Doesn’t Always Have a “Good” Reason

Depression is word very commonly used these days, either we say it or we hear at least a couple of times during the day. But have we ever realized what it really means and how it can actually effect the mental health or for that matter the entire life of the person in question.

It is indeed a fact that almost 16 million adults have depression without experiencing a negative event or facing some type of life change. One explanation for this is that depression has been linked to an imbalance in the neurotransmitters that help regulate moods. Depression is a serious mental illness that can cause long-lasting and severe feelings of sadness and hopelessness, as well as a loss of interest in activities. It can affect a person’s quality of life and relationships.

Depression can be mild and short-lived or severe and long-lasting. Some people are affected by depression only once, while others may experience it multiple times. One of the best things you can do is to get moving. When you’re depressed, you might not have the energy to get off the couch. But once you start walking, stretching, or just moving your body, you’ll probably start to feel better.
