Does toothpaste works on acne or pimple ?

We have heard and tried many acne remedies but not always every one works, just like one of them is putting toothpaste on your acne or pimples.

And believe it or not we all have put toothpaste on our pimples at some point. But does it really work or it we are damaging our skin?

So we did our fare share of study about if toothpaste is useful or not. Toothpaste has been used as a home remedy to treat pimples because many toothpastes used to contain an ingredient called triclosan, which is an antimicrobial that helped kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin.

According to dermatologists ” Toothpaste contains certain ingredients, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, menthol, essential oils, triclosan that cause pimples to dry out.”  ” There are no ingredients in toothpaste that make this method more effective than conventional treatments.”

According to a report in which dermatologists stated that “It’s meant for teeth and not skin”. “Toothpaste irritates the skin, so some may believe that it dries out pimples, but what it really does is irritate and cause redness and peeling.”  “over-drying and even burning can occur on skin from applying it to pimples.”

Toothpaste will irritate the skin, and the pimple will probably eventually disappear along with the irritation, but toothpaste is in no way a primary treatment for acne. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid works great to clear acne and help prevent it, as well.

So the end result, it is not good to use toothpaste as acne or pimple treatment it can have side effects and makes your skin harsh, but most importantly it is made for your teeth so putting a mouth product on face can harsh.

Stick to your other options like mud mask or Vaseline, and do not use toothpaste as remedies.
