Easy tips to prevent extensive heat exhaustion this summer

The weather has taken quite a turn and summer has started early. The amount of heat especially during the day, and scorching sunlight can be very harmful and may become the cause of various diseases.

A person with heat exhaustion loses body fluids and salts from being exposed to high temperatures for long periods of time. Symptoms of this exhaustion include fatigue, as the body becomes dehydrated, blood volume is reduced and blood pressure drops.

  • Wear lightweight and light-coloured clothes for starters.
  • Use a sunscreen.
  • Drink extra fluids. To prevent dehydration, it’s generally recommended to drink at least eight glasses of water per day, and on hot days even more.
  • Avoid fluids containing either caffeine or alcohol because both substances can make you lose fluids and worsen the exhaustion.
  • Be on the lookout for summer related problems if you take medications that can affect your body’s ability to stay hydrated and dissipate heat.

And if none of these work for you then go to a doctor ASAP as there is a high chance that you may get a heat stroke.
