The news of Asma Jahangir’s sudden death came as a shock for everyone. She was a human rights lawyer and a social activist. Where many people shared the grief of losing her; Bollywood veteran Shabana Azmi who was close friends with Asma expressed her grief over losing a close companion and friend.
The actress took to Twitter to pay condolences to ‘friend’ and ‘leader’ Asma and admitted Pakistan had lost a brave, brave soldier.

Shabana’s husband Javed Akhtar also took to Twitter to express dismay over Pakistan’s loss.
Asma Jahangir , undoubtedly the bravest and the most resilient fighter for human rights who had the courage to face the wrath of the dictators and the fury of the fundamentalist Mulla has passed away . It is the loss of the whole Sub continent .
