Irrfan Khan to star in a movie based on a novel about Pakistani love affair

The ace Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia is all set to adopt famous Pakistan born writer Mohsin Hamid’s debut novel Moth Smoke in a movie. And, according to the sources, the movie based on an adulterous love affair between the Pakistani elite woman and a common man will star international actor Irrfan Khan.

Irrfan Khan, while talking about the upcoming movie, which was revealed at the Cannes Film Festival said:

“I have been eagerly waiting for something on which I could work with Asif again.” 

Previously, Khan has worked with Kapadia on his debut project “The Warrior,” which was a record-breaking hit.

Moth Smoke by Mohsin Hamid basically revolves around the story of a social misfit who falls in love with his best friend’s wife. The backdrop of the story is based on the situation of Pakistan and India’s consecutive nuclear tests in 1998.

The film will be produced by “Slumdog Millionaire” producer Dina Dattani, who has stated that owing to the tension between India and Pakistan, the shooting location for the movie is unknown yet.

 “It is too early to decide on location. We will consider both Pakistan and India for the shoot.” 

Well, Moth Smoke novel definitely got our attention, and this movie which is allegedly going to be Indo-Pak production undoubtedly will have some weight to it.
