Muslim model gets dropped from beauty campaign for wearing hijab

With a considerable surge in discriminatory acts faced by Muslims, one model has stepped forward to claim that the hijab on her head became the basis of her getting dropped out of a beauty campaign.

While talking to international media outlets, 25-year-old Mariah Idrissi revealed that she had faced discrimination at the hands of one of the outlets involved in a beauty campaign who thought she would “limit the audience because she’s Muslim.”

The model rose to fame after becoming the first hijab-wearing woman to star in an H&M campaign back in 2015.

In an interview she explained, “It was nothing to do with my personality, and just because I wore a hijab they thought their audience wouldn’t buy the product.”

She went on to add, “For me, it was like well I buy things that white girls are wearing, it makes no difference, so I was a bit shocked.”
