Ever since Akshay Kumar won the prestigious Best Actor National Award for his role in and as ‘Rustom’, people have been whispering how the actor received the award only because of his close friendship with filmmaker Priyadarshan who headed the jury this year.
However, Akshay denied the allegations saying, “I have completed 25 years in the film industry and I’ve never called in a favour to bag a movie or an award.”
He also shared how he is happy to finally bag an award because his wife Twinkle always teased him of not earning one. “I’m very happy. I consider it the blessings of my parents and the good wishes of my family. Mrs. Kumar who always teased me on not getting any awards, is happy, and my happiness lies in making her happy.”
Akshay Kumar is currently shooting for his forthcoming film ‘Padman’ with Sonam Kapoor.
