With two hit films under her belt, Sohai Ali Abro is soaring high on success. Having done item numbers in both films, the actress shares her viewpoint on the controversy surrounding “item songs”.
Pakistani actress Sohai Ali Abro, who was recently seen performing on item numbers in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and Wrong Number, shares how she feel to be a rising star.
Sohai Ali Abro explain that the item numbers of Pakistani movies cannot be compared with those of Indian movies because in Pakistan item numbers “the item girl is not surrounded by few people enjoying her dance moves.”
She further said, “People say dance is not a part of our culture, but at the same time enjoy watching Katrina Kaif doing ‘Chikni Chameli’ but don’t want to see Mehwish Hayat doing ‘Billi.’ That’s a bit twisted! In mehndis, people dance to Bollywood songs but when an actress wears lehnga-choli to perform, it is branded as an item number.”
