Priyanka Chopra believes feminism needs men

Priyanka Chopra is a name to reckon with, not only in India, but in the world over. She has made Indians proud, as an actress, singer and philanthropist. Recently, while shooting for her upcoming Hollywood projects, has talked about the idea and need of feminism.

She feels proud to call herself a feminist and says people should not think the term means “berating or hating men.”

“Feminism is not about berating or hating men or disliking or trying to make sure we’re better than men. Feminism is just saying give me opportunities without judging me for the decisions that I make, the same freedom that men have enjoyed for so many centuries. Feminism needs men,” she said.

“I see so many girlfriends of mine who are like, ‘No I’m not that much of a feminist.’ I don’t even understand that. The need for feminism was created because there were no rights for women. That’s why there is not a man-ism because they always had it,” added the Quantico star.

She also said that feminism is not about hating men: “It needs the men in their lives to stand up for their mothers, their sisters, their girlfriends, their wives, their daughters and say that I’m going to change the game for my future generation.”

“I was raised to be fearless when it came to opinions. My dad always used to tell me, ‘Women are always told to say this is the right way to be or this is the right way to dress or this is the right way to speak,’” she recalls.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Priyanka has finished shooting for A Kid Like Jake and Isn’t it Romantic, where plays a supporting role. She has also started working on the third season of Quantico, after her successful stints in the first two seasons.
