Beyond being the face of Dior, Rihanna’s spent time in the designing trenches. The debut of her sleek, sci-fi sunglasses generated some big buzz, not least because they were inspired by a name you don’t hear thrown around in fashion circles a lot: Star Trek’s La Forge.
“I’ve always been obsessed with his eyewear, and when I got to Dior and saw all the materials I could play with, it all just came together,” she explained. And because no one could model them better than her, she recently dedicated some time to posing for photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
As for what Rihanna would like to hide behind her shades, some legit sci-fi magic might be required. “What you’re thinking—before it comes out of your mouth.”
The sunglasses are available in multiple colors and only sold in Dior boutiques. Most ring in at $840; the 24k gold style is $1,950.
