Depression rate increasing due to COVID-19

By: Zain Saleem Malik

Covid-19 has caused critical misery around the world. Apart from the apparent physical side effects, it has made genuine harm to one’s psychological well-being. Pakistan, as different nations, executed an across the nation lockdown to contain and control the transmission of the infection covid 19.

2020 around the globe is seen as the most dreadful year with struggling economy even those developed countries like US has shaken to its fullest. Due to which many people around the globe have lost their jobs and are in a state of mental depression. With deprived hopes and shaken economy, it has severely impacted their mental health and frustration is seen in their actions and behavior just cause of this instability.

In a couple of months, COVID-19 has incited a gigantic interest stun, setting off employment misfortunes that far surpass the size of the Great Recession 10 years prior. The world will require an expansive financial recuperation that will require to some extent the advancement of new era among  worldwide workforce. In the first place, in the shorter-term COVID-19 will keep on prompting phenomenal dependence on advanced aptitudes. As a rule, a few specialists may go through a while or longer in a “cross breed economy,” where some will be in the work environment while others keep on struggling. The shorter-term “half breed economy” is a more advanced economy. We can anticipate that digitization of the economy should keep on progressing at a quickened speed. Also, as organizations react to a downturn by expanding productivity, this requirement for advanced change will increment much further. Using information and innovation to assist individuals with growing new abilities can be helpful.

Concentrating in  your abilities and believing in yourself is vital in these tough times. They need to work to help the improvement of more extensive aptitudes also, including the sharpness expected to guarantee the mindful utilization of innovation and the delicate abilities expected to discover and prevail in a new horizon.

At a time when governments are investing in stimulus funding, it is important to consider investing in the future of citizens by enabling people to acquire the skills needed for their future and the economy’s recovery. This should provide individuals with access to funding for additional relevant skills training (including online tools and services) throughout their lives, as well as more funding to existing workforce programs focusing on technology and skills so that they can earn their livelihood.

Also another thing I have noticed in these past four months is that rate of suicide has increased rapidly. The reason is none other than depression. We can witness that recently Dr Zara shot a bullet in her head and committed suicide. She was residing in Karachi and was a young enthusiastic woman. Many other cases have been reported in interior as well. Just because of loss of jobs, family misunderstandings, hopelessness, a person is left with no other hope than to take his/ her life knowingly.

Remember Together we can better serve people in community,  filling jobs and creating opportunities for individuals around the world. We should all aspire to turn a year that had a bleak beginning into a decade that has a bright finish. We bring a long-term determination and a commitment to do our part. Stay positive; stay motivated and have an ambition to live for!!
