New Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Has Just Dropped

The new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home has just dropped

The film kicks off Marvel Studios’ Phase Four and is set right after the end of Avengers: EndgameAnd to avoid any disappointment, at the beginning of the clip Peter Parker himself warns fans who still haven’t seen it not to carry on watching.

How thoughtful.

The trailer kicks off with a distraught Parker mourning the loss of his friend and hero, Iron Man, who sacrificed himself to save the universe in the previous film.

It then cuts to Spidey kicking some criminal arse, and, referencing Stark’s death again, one cop asks him: “Are you gonna be the next Iron Man, now?”

But after all the excitement of Endgame, Parker decides to go on a little holiday to Europe. However, it isn’t long until he’s tracked down by S.H.I.E.L.D boss Nick Fury, who teams the teen up with Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal.

Over the course of the trailer, the partnership seems to sour somewhat as Mysterio’s true motives begin to unravel.

The question fans are left with at the end is ‘will Spider-Man step up’ as Stark did?

Earlier this year Gyllenhaal told the LA Times why he decided to join the MCU.

He said: “He’s a great character… you know it was one of those things that people have asked me for a number of years, ‘Are you going to do/do you want to do a movie like that, or if you were asked to would you?’

“And my response has always been, particularly since being at Sundance [where] so many of the stories [are] character-driven and that has always been my desire, to find something in that space that seems to match my skill and also what I love and my own honesty.

“And it just so happened that it does with that part. So, I’m glad that people feel excited about it.”

According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, the movie’s title has ‘dual meanings’.

He said: “We like [the title] of course because it ties into Homecoming, not just keeping that word going, which we like and we liked it more than Homecoming 2, but that notion of ‘home’ is a word that has dual meanings we’d like to continue with this [Marvel Cinematic Universe] version of Spider-Man. So ‘far from home’ has multiple meanings.”

Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to hit cinemas from 2 July.
