SPF AND IT’S BENEFITS!

SPF stands for Sun Protecting Factor. It is one of the most important thing of our skin care routine. It is how we measure the protection from the sun’s UVB rays. For example, SPF blocks 93% of UVB rays, SPF 30 blocks 97%, and SPF 50 blocks 98%. It’s not only good to wear just at the beach. It is important for every time you go out in the sun. As it protects you from the UVB rays of the sun. We all remember to pop on the SPF when the sun comes out, especially now the weather’s getting warmer and those beach days are calling. There are basically two main types of UV rays, one is UVB which is associated with reddishness on skin and sunburn. The other type is UVA, that is Ultraviolet A causes the premature ageing of skin. After too much sun exposure to these harmful ultraviolet rays our skin becomes dark, red, tan, burns or start to peel. This is why a good SPF is really important for our skin.

We all wear sunscreen to protect our skin from the sun, but sunscreen protects us from a lot of harmful diseases as well, that is skin cancer, premature ageing, hyperpigmentation, and sunburn. SPF numbers tell us how long the sun’s rays would take to burn our skin without the sunscreen applied. So theoretically you’d burn in 30 minutes without wearing SPF30. . SPF 50+ filters 98% of UVB (the rays that burn), whereas SPF30 filters 96.7% of UVBs, so the difference is not actually that vast. An SPF30 will give more protection when applied correctly than a SPF50+ spread too thinly. So technique is key…  Always apply liberally!
