We miss the golden era of PTV

In the current times you turn your TV on, and have hundreds of channels to choose from and if that’s not enough you have YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime. So it won’t be wrong to say we have countless options.

Once upon a time, we only used to have one channel that was the legendary PTV, to watch on our television screen.  The brilliantly well scripted serious dramas with phenomenal actors, the hilarious sit-coms and dramas that made everyone laugh out loud, actually. The comic timing of actors combined with the hilarious scripts resulted in the comedy series we all still cherish, to this day.

Having said that it is pertinent to mention some of the most cherished and well sort dramas in history of PTV.

Dhoop Kinare

Dhoop Kinare was one of the most loved and watched drama serial on PTV in 1987 and is now considered as a classic. The show centered on a team of doctors and revolved around their routines at the hospital and their private lives at home. The main leads of the drama were Rahat Kazmi and Marina Khan.

Angan Terha

Aangan Terha was a humorous Pakistani drama of the late 1980s. The drama was based on many stories on multiple issues of the society and indirect criticism on the Martial law and the electoral system. The show starred Salim Nasir, Shakeel, Arshad Mehmood, Durdana Butt and Bushra Ansari in lead roles, was directed by Qaiser Farooq and written by Anwar Maqsood.

Sona Chandi

Sona Chandi was a classic comedy-drama television serial produced by PTV. It narrated the story of  a couple who came to a city in search of work. The role of Sona was played by Hamid Rana and his wife Chandi (Sheeba Arshad)

I can keep going on and on with  more dramas as I believe it was the best era of our drama industry, well anyway enough for now will keep posting about more legendary dramas in my upcoming blogs.
